Respiratory symptoms for days and just messing around with games mostly.
The one real scene I did write is one for the 3rd intended book of the series when I'm almost done with the rough draft of book one...
Still, it's a conversation I think the characters in question would have and it's funny because I kinda' got emotional about it.
Two very long-lived individuals talk personal history around a fire on a terraformed planet while trying to figure out how to leave.
I'll share this little bit:
Scotty shook his head. “You’re not the hero type, Doc.”
“I feel driven to save lives,” she said.
“Nope,” Scotty said. “You’re driven not to lose lives.”
Doc fixed on him with an icy glare.
“I’ve seen you with a gun in your hand too often to be a ‘saving lives’ kind of hero, Doc. You can make moral and ethical judgments like that on the fly, drunk of your ass, and you have zero-point-zero reservations about killing someone if there a risk to your patients.” Scotty met her glare with smiling eyes. “You may not like it, but you can kill as well as save,” he said in soft tones.
“I–I–” Doc stuttered, looking away.
“You can’t stand losing people, Doc. You make it personal and you have the skills and toolkit to succeed in some of the worst situations imaginable.”
Doc sniffled, tears coming down her cheeks.
“That made it easy to pick sides in this mess and to say yes when you asked for help.”
